Each year, AnSR Games sits around and decides what they are wanting to do in the next year. We finally completed our discussions and presented here are our goals for 2018.
In 2017, we looked at the how of making games and decided that we wanted our games to fit a certain "mold". We like a certain box size, price, and complexity level. We then began reformatting our games to meet those criteria. 2018's goals are a direct reflection of those decisions and more.
The theme for this year is Streamline and Focus. We looked at our library of games we want to launch and what we want to support in the future, and we made some hard decisions on what we wanted our company to do. To that end, we are going to retire older games (something we have not done in years), and refocus our time and energies on some core games and "lines" if you will. We even built in a little experimentation time... but not much. We have a goal to build a few kinds of games, the way we want this year, and we are on our way to doing that.
Here are our 2018 Goals, in some particular order.
Final Thoughts on the goals
We honestly expect that some of these decisions will create a short-term slump on sales. The fact is, we make money on a game that we released in 2009 with no advertising every month. That is awesome. We are looking to retire that game. That's going to hurt. Long-term, though, making sure that the games we have are the ones we can spend time and energy on supporting and promoting is really great.
We have a chance to make a strong, focused line of games that we can show and enjoy with people. In fact, the games we are making right now are even showing a focus on the experience we want players to have. It is all very intentional and we look forward to seeing the results not just in this year, but the next and the next. Streamlined and Focused.
