Angels - the Game of Divine Stories is a game with a lot of Biblical influence. It has to be. It is about Angels from Heaven fighting Demons in Hell over the eternal resting place of human souls. We're talking about Angels and God and Jesus here. There's just no getting away from it. So, what influenced us the most out of the Bible? A lot, really. Of particular emphasis was:
- The book of Genesis - The book of Revalations - Gabriel's message about the coming of Christ - The book of Job - The temptation of Christ by the Devil When reviewing the Bible, we felt that this was the story and the morals God wanted for the humans. And while the Angels were the background characters in a lot of the stories, we couldn't help but think that the Angels had their stories too. That was part of the fun, really of designing the game: telling the other side of the story. We couldn't bring ourselves to tell only stories during Biblical times. That was just too limiting. So instead, we looked to modern times and all the various ways that the Christian faith is used and interpreted. Some of it is scary. Some of it is good. Some of it is even in line with God's will (whatever that may be). We liked exploring our modern world through the eyes of immortal beings that know what's on the other side. Beings that have either seen or live in the realm with God. But. like the Bible, for some, all that is old history or vague memories. For some, the questions of faith, hope and love are very real and the only thing God gave them is a book for the humans, their ArchAngels, and time immortal to think about it all. For many, the written Word provides a lot of help and guidance to these beings. Thus, the stories, morals, condemnations, and other philisophical points became very key to the character of Angels. The Bible was, by far, our greatest influence on this game. One of the things we would love to go back and do is tell a lot of the big stories in the bible from the Angelic point of view. That would be a fun e-book with game stats for the characters. Hmmmm... |
